Firstly, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Executive team, I’d like to sincerely thank all Club Members on your support during this challenging time.
Your adherence to the social distancing measures we have put in place, from the first restrictions within the clubhouse, through to our eventual closure of golf courses has been exemplary.
As a border town, we are mindful of the differing golf regulations in both NSW and Victoria. Though legally allowed to remain open by NSW law, our obligation to the entire regional community has and always will come first.
While it can’t be measured, our decision to remain closed over the Easter weekend played a significant role in discouraging visitors and minimising any further spread of the virus.
Our Club has acted strongly to protect the health and wellbeing of Members and the local community. Now, it is that same sentiment that prompts our decision to re-open our golf courses from next Tuesday.
With the Easter holiday period now behind us, we believe it is now appropriate to allow local golfers to return.
After many weeks of self-isolation, with the council of local authorities and mental health experts, we’ve concluded that the physical and psychological gain from a quick golfing escape now far outweighs any potential risk to our community.
From next Tuesday 21 April, in line with NSW Government guidelines, the Lake and Executive Courses will re-open for local Full Member social play only. No access will be allowed for YMGCR Country Members, guests, visitors or green fee players.
In addition to 1.5-metre social distancing rules, the following restrictions will also apply:
- All play to be booked in advance via online booking sheet or by calling the Pro Shop. Strictly no walk-ups
- Booking process as usual, open for both men and ladies
- Arrive no more than ten minutes before tee time
- Cashless transactions only in Pro Shop
- Maximum of two players per group
- One person per golf cart
- Leave immediately after your round
- And, if any Member feels unwell, stay home
Ground and Pro Shop staff, as well as members of the Board, including myself, will be monitoring the courses daily to ensure we are all adhering to these rules. Non-compliance will result in suspended playing rights.
Online booking sheets for Tuesday play onwards are available now via yarragolf.com.au, with Evan and his Pro Shop team returning for phone bookings from Monday morning.
As always, we will continue to review our position as new information becomes available and reserve the right to modify our decision should the situation change.
For now, please enjoy your return to our courses safely and continue to look after each other.
