New Directors, Life Members, and a Strong Year Ahead for Yarra Golf

Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday 27 October in the Willow Room, with 190 members in attendance.

All special resolutions presented at the meeting were successfully passed, including several updates to the Club’s Constitution designed to improve efficiency, modernise governance language, and strengthen compliance with current legislation.

The approved resolutions included:

  • Reducing the quorum for General Meetings from 100 to 75 members.
  • Updating the Constitution to use gender-neutral language.
  • Introducing measures to align with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act.
  • Clarifying the Board’s ability to create additional classes of membership as needed.
  • Granting 6-Day Members the same voting and nomination rights as Full Members.

The election of Board positions was completed in accordance with the Triennial Rule. Peter Crothers was elected Vice-President, while Mick Spring and Judy Langford were elected as new Directors. They join President Andrew Shell, Captain Steve Buckley, Vice-Captain Judy Kruger, Wendy Dickson, Kay Clarke, and Max Currie on the Board.

The Club thanks nominees Tony Rice and Kerry Kinnane for their interest during the nomination process, and extends its appreciation to outgoing Director Andrew Watson for his contributions over the past 12 months.

In his President’s Report, Andrew Shell reflected on a year that combined both opportunities and challenges, noting the continued growth of the Club’s membership, strong financial results, and major progress on several facility improvements. He acknowledged the efforts of the staff, Board, and volunteers, and thanked members for their continued support and loyalty. Mr Shell also extended his appreciation to retiring Vice-President Jason Williams for his service and contribution to the Club.

CEO Peter Savy provided a summary of the Club’s operational performance, noting steady growth across all areas — including hospitality, accommodation, gaming, and golf. He spoke positively about the Club’s financial position and outlined several improvement projects underway, including course and clubhouse upgrades, accommodation refurbishments, and new amenities planned for completion in the coming months.

The AGM also saw the induction of two new Life Members, Judy Kruger and Vin Slattery, recognising their outstanding service and long-term commitment to the Club.
