Barefoot Charity Bowls Returns with a Cracker Jack Opening Night
Our Barefoot Bowls Annual Charity Challenge officially rolled back into action on Tuesday 3 February, kicking off another fun six weeks of competition at Yarra Golf.
This year 26 teams will compete for the chance to win $2,000 generously donated by Mercy Health, to be awarded to the charity of the winning team’s choice.
Opening night also included some fantastic prizes kindly donated by our community, including a fresh fruit box and a leg of lamb roast and veggies, donated by Terry Cartwright, with support from Woolworths Yarrawonga, and a cheeseboard with cheese and crackers, donated by bowls members Jill and Ronnie Lamson.
All raffle proceeds will go directly towards purchasing new bowls for our barefoot bowlers, helping make the experience even better for everyone who gets involved.
It was also great to see so many of our bowls members on hand to offer support, tips and encouragement to those new to the game.
A huge thank you to the organisers from both the Golf and Bowls Clubs who have worked hard to get this event up and running again. It really is a fantastic community series.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for opening night. We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring.
