The CEO’s Desk: Locals set to have a ‘Ball’ this Winter!
I trust you are all enjoying the return to ‘regular programming’, as we enter our first winter in some time without the threat of movement restrictions and lockdowns.
It was wonderful to see our regular visitors back at the Club and enjoying our golf courses and Clubhouse throughout the school holidays and Anzac Day long weekend. The Club had an excellent Easter period, with full time sheets, accommodation and bistro bookings across all four days. We also had a fantastic turnout from young families on Easter Monday for our Easter petting zoo and kids’ face painting. The Clubhouse was buzzing with excited little faces, and plenty of nuggets and chips enjoyed by all!
In April, we also welcomed the services of new Executive Chef, Gavin Dyson. With a strong background in the Hotel and Club industry, Gavin joins us after successful stints at Wairakei Resort Taupō (NZ), Mercure Hotel Adelaide and Cobram Barooga Sporties. Gavin will be supported by a growing catering team, with some fresh new faces also joining the kitchen in recent times. We wish Gavin all the best and hope you enjoy the changes that Gavin introduces to the menu over time.
Coming up in the Winter months, we look forward to hosting the inaugural Yarra Golf Winter Ball on Saturday, 18 June. The theme is ‘The Gatsby Experience’, with guests enjoying a magnificent 3-course sit-down meal, 5-hour drinks package, and over 2.5 hours of live entertainment with 8-piece band, BigCityBeat, performing their internationally acclaimed Gatsby era stage show. Tickets are available now, and I encourage all Members to get in early to avoid missing out.
Finally, congratulations to all the recent sporting award winners from across the Club. From our National Championship winning Gold medallist bowlers, Claire Sanders, Laureen Smith and Anne Miles, 2022 Victoria/Tasmania PGA Associate Champion, Dale Crothers and our 2022 Men’s and Ladies golf Club Champions, Jayar Martin and Donna Hancock. Incredible efforts all around, and thank you for representing our Club so proudly.
