Yarrawonga Women Finish Runners-Up in the 2026 Red Gum Cup
A huge congratulations to our team of Yarrawonga women who represented the Club at the inaugural Red Gum Cup, held across Yarrawonga, Tocumwal and Cobram from Sunday to Tuesday.
The Red Gum Cup is a new initiative driven by Yarra Golf Representatives, Louise Cross and Julie Kirchen. It involved team competition across all Golf on the Murray Clubs which include Tocumwal, Yarrawonga, Cobram, Moama, Barham and Murray Downs.
The team got off to a flying start, leading after both the 4BBB and foursomes matchplay with 8 points after day one and 16 points after day two. After Tuesday’s singles matchplay at Cobram, Yarrawonga finished tied with Cobram on 26 points, forcing a playoff between the two teams’ number one players.
Unfortunately, they fell just short, with Cobram taking out the inaugural Red Gum Cup by a single shot. Despite some challenging conditions, the team showed plenty of determination, sportsmanship and pride throughout the competition. We couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented Yarrawonga.
A big thank you to everyone involved in bringing this event to life, and to Peter Savy and the Club for supporting the team.
