Former President and long-time volunteer Nick Moraitis was awarded Life Membership of Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort by his peers at Sunday morning’s Annual General Meeting.

Nick’s association with Yarrawonga began many years ago when he and his family started holidaying here.

Nick became a member in 1987 before he and his beautiful wife, Glenda moved permanently here in 1996.

Elected to the Club’s Board of Directors in 1998, Nick then embarked on a long journey of service to our club.

By 2003, Nick rose to the position of Vice President, working alongside President Stuart Spinks. Together these two gentlemen led the club through a particularly tumultuous time in its history.

Vice-President and Chairman of the House Committee for eight years, Nick had considerable input into the approval and construction of many Club projects, including new air conditioning systems, new accommodation units, the Focus Gym facility and the Lake and Executive Irrigation System.

Following Stuart’s retirement in 2011, Nick took the reins and served as President for five years.

Nick continued to introduce further improvements to our facility, such as the construction of our luxury cinema complex and the Toro machinery leasing arrangement that gave our ground staff access to the world’s best equipment.

Outside of the Boardroom, Nick’s contribution to our club’s betterment has been equally as impressive.

Nick played a crucial role in the resurrection of the Club’s Junior Pennant program – driving the bus and caddying for our young golfers as they competed with other juniors in the North East district. Then in 2013, Nick led a campaign to develop the ongoing Members Volunteer program.

Immediately following his retirement from the Presidency in 2016, Nick rolled up his sleeves and became an invaluable member of this wonderful group – a contribution he continues to this day.
