Sacred Heart College Wins Inaugural Schools Golf Challenge
The inaugural Sacred Heart College / Yarrawonga College P–12 Golf Challenge was held at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort on Friday 24 October, with 40 local students taking part in a fun and competitive day of golf.
Twenty students from each school competed in a nine-hole match play event on the Executive Course, followed by a putting challenge on the practice green. The combined scoring system rewarded both match results and putting accuracy, encouraging students to demonstrate a full range of golfing skills.
After an enjoyable afternoon on the course, the students gathered in the clubhouse for refreshments and the presentation of the Perpetual Shield, which was awarded to Sacred Heart College as the overall winner.
Club Captain Steve Buckley said it was fantastic to see the enthusiasm from both schools. “If you’re ever down at the club after 3.30pm, you’ll see countless juniors out there playing and improving at a rapid rate,” he said. “It was great to see that energy carried through into this new interschool challenge.”
Buckley also thanked Judy Kruger, Louise Cross, and Bob Kruger for their assistance on the day, and said he looks forward to seeing the event grow in future years.
Junior membership at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort is available to any child under 18 for just $62 per year, which includes full access to the course. Applications and payment can be made at the main reception seven days a week from 10am, or forms can be downloaded at www.yarragolf.com.au/memberships
