Update from the President: Key Projects

Dear Members,

Following the October AGM, I would like to provide an update on the key projects that were discussed and outline the progress being made across these important initiatives.

I am pleased to advise that the new maintenance facility has now received its long-awaited Development Approval from Council in late January. This is a significant milestone for the Club. The next stage, being the preparation of detailed documentation for tender, is now progressing at full pace. In the coming months, initial works will commence to clear the site at the rear of the Murray 2nd tee and the end of the driving range in preparation for construction. We are targeting the completion of tender documents by the end of May, at which point the project will be released to market.

The redevelopment of the old upstairs gym area is also in its final planning stages. The Building Committee will shortly present a final concept design for member viewing, with a proposed commencement date to be announced in due course. This redevelopment will transform the space into a modern, multi-use recreational area incorporating a golf simulator with games and entertainment, along with a sports bar and TAB facilities. This project is aimed at broadening our offering and enhancing the overall Club experience for both members and guests.

In addition, plans for a new reception, resort gym, and accommodation support building are progressing well and are currently with Federation Council for Development Approval. This project will further strengthen our accommodation offering and improve the experience for our guests.

Members will also be pleased to know that the Pro Shop Men’s and Disabled toilets will undergo long-awaited renovations commencing in early June. At the same time, the Waratah unit block (12 suites) will also commence full bathroom and kitchen upgrades. These works form part of our ongoing commitment to improving our accommodation facilities, which are now well due for refurbishment.

I am also pleased to report that the new Driving Range and Lagoon wedding area amenities building with a disabled unisex toilet has now been completed. It is a fantastic addition to the Club, presenting exceptionally well in its location, and I am confident it will be well utilised for both golf and event activities.

Across all projects, your Board and Management remain focused on careful planning, financial responsibility, and delivering long-term value for members. While some projects are complex and require detailed approvals and staging, steady progress is being made behind the scenes.

We appreciate your ongoing support and patience as we work through these important initiatives. These developments represent a significant investment in the future of our Club and will ensure we continue to provide outstanding facilities for many years to come.

We will continue to keep members informed as each project progresses.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Shell
President, YMGCR
