Sacred Heart Go Back-to-Back in Schools’ Golf Challenge
Sacred Heart College has claimed back-to-back honours in the annual Schools’ Golf Challenge, held yesterday at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort.
Now in its second year, the event brought together 50 young golfers from Years 7 to 12, representing Sacred Heart College and Yarrawonga College P–12, for a great day of school golf on the fairways of Yarra Golf.
Players competed across a range of formats, with some taking on an 18-hole stroke round across the Executive Course and the front nine of the Lake Course, while the majority played a shotgun-start stroke round on the Executive Course.
There was some outstanding golf played throughout the day.
In the 18-hole event, Tate Thomson was crowned Gross Winner with a brilliant round of 69, taking the title on a countback from Sonny Sneddon, with both players finishing at par. The 18-hole Nett Winner was Chase Jarjoura, with an excellent score of 57.
In the 9-hole event, Henry Donovan claimed the Gross Winner honours with a round of 37, while Kobe Hughes took out the Nett prize with a score of 21.5.
After team averages were calculated, Sacred Heart College emerged victorious, defeating Yarrawonga College P–12 by a narrow margin, 106.4 to 109.45.

Sacred Heart College’s Baxter Donovan accepted the Perpetual Shield on behalf of the winning team and thanked everyone involved in bringing the event together.
Yarra Golf congratulates all students who took part in this year’s challenge, along with the teachers, staff, volunteers and supporters who helped make the day such a success.
The Schools’ Golf Challenge continues to be a fantastic opportunity for local students to enjoy competitive golf in a friendly and supportive environment, and plans are already in place for the event to return in 2027.
