The CEO’s Desk: Wet start has not dampened our outlook
The recent flooding events have provided yet another challenge for us, but nothing we can’t handle.
I sincerely thank our hard-working ground staff, Pro Shop staff, and accommodation management, who have borne the brunt of the headaches with a tremendous can-do attitude.
However, the wet start to Spring has not dampened our outlook on some exciting projects coming our way in 2023.
Much time has been spent planning and prioritising improvements to specific areas of the Club, with the first area of focus being the upgrade of our accommodation offering.
As Members may be aware, the replacement of the current cabin accommodation was flagged for replacement in our Strategic Plan, released last year. I’m happy to report that after planning approvals, the upgrade will commence on May 1, 2023. Current estimates project costings to be $1.8m, with local builder Riches Home Improvements, in charge of construction.
The cabins will be replaced with new 3-bedroom villas similar to those above Lake 13th green. We project that adding these units will increase our accommodation occupancy by 11% per annum and should recoup all building expenses within its first six years.
Also in the works is a new Members cart storage facility. Construction will commence in 2023 and includes a roof for undercover driving range bays and unisex toilet facilities. A letter detailing how to purchase a cart spot will be sent to eligible Members shortly.
Planning for the machinery shed relocation also continues. We have faced some difficulties with the development application due to its location near the floodplain; however, the Board has approved renowned golf course facilities company Robert Luxmoore Project Management to work with Council to fast-track the process. The estimated project cost is $2.5m, and if the relocation can proceed, it will also free up room for an additional 90 carparks for members and guests.
Other projects in the pipeline include:
- The Murray Course Irrigation and Greens Replacement.
- The ongoing bunker replacement program.
- Upgrades to the Clubhouse foyer and reception area.
- A refresh of the clubhouse lounge and TAB area.
Exciting times are ahead for all Members – It definitely looms as a busy few years at the Club!
With some luck and drier weather, our full facility should be back open and ready to enjoy for Members and visitors as the summer months fast approach.
Thank you for your support.
