Update from the President
With the clocks turned back and our golfing days getting a little shorter, I would like to start this update by thanking our Members and guests for a fantastic opening to 2022.
The numbers on course, accommodation, and clubhouse have been outstanding. I trust that you have all enjoyed a meal or two and have been taking advantage of some of the great specials on offer, including the very popular Thursday $15 Steak Night!
On the business front, after some rescheduling, I was proud to lead the Club’s General Meeting on Sunday, 3 April. The meeting centred on an ordinary resolution to increase full member subscription fees by $200 over the next two years. With more than 150 full, intermediate and life members in attendance, the board and I were delighted with the outcome as the resolution passed with 87% of Members voting in full support.
This timely membership revenue boost will go a long way in assisting the Club’s financial position as we embark on significant maintenance and improvement projects over the next 5-years.
The Club’s management team will provide more detailed information regarding new annual subscription fees and how these changes will affect your current membership in the near future.
Out on-course, our grounds team look to be winning the battle with the everchanging weather conditions, with our courses and greens firming up nicely in preparation for the May Tournament and annual Club Championships. Best of luck to all our players, and I look forward to presenting the awards to some well-deserving winners.
And lastly, after an incredible 28-year stint helping shape and develop our beautiful golf courses, it is with mixed emotions that we share the resignation of Assistant Superintendant Trevor Elliott.
A hugely popular and much loved Yarra Golf staff member, we thank Trevor for his fantastic contribution to our Club and wish him all the best on his new journey.
Thank you again for your ongoing support, and I look forward to sharing many more positive updates as we continue our post-Covid comeback.
Kind regards,
Gil Cunningham
